Birdman Movie Breaks All Records In The 2015 Oscars
Birdman (or The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) Film Analysis Regardless of Michael Keaton’s superhero legacy in his Batman movie series, Birdman features Keaton in the lead role of a dark comedy-drama. The revolutionary concept behind this film isn’t represented only by its story, but by the camera work itself: from the opening scene until roughly 10 minutes before the end, the camera seems to operate in one single, continuous, seamless take. The screenplay of Birdman was crafted to present scenes as a cut-free sequence inside the St. James Theatre in New York City, where the movie was filmed. Riggan Thomson (played by Keaton), a faded Hollywood star, hopes to resuscitate his flagging career by mounting a Broadway play in that very theater. The story focuses on Riggan Thomson, an actor who portrayed the iconic superhero “Birdman” over 20 years ago. Video – Malaysia In Less Than 5 Minutes
My Trip to Malaysia & Visual Showcase Have you ever wondered how Malaysia looks in almost every aspect? Malaysia is a wonderful country with rich traditions, lush natural landscapes, and a diverse population. While the majority of its citizens are Muslim, there are also thriving communities of Christians, Hindus, Buddhists, and more. I had the chance to visit Malaysia with my relatives a couple of months ago for a week-long vacation. We were accompanied by a guide throughout the trip who helped us explore many of the top tourist destinations across the country. We even took a domestic flight inside Malaysia to visit the beautiful island of Langkawi, where we had a fantastic time exploring the local scenery and culture. We visited many iconic sites, including the Pregnant Woman Island, Crocodile Adventure Land, The Parrot Farm, Sunway Lagoon Water Park, Genting Skyway, The Fruits Garden, Batu Caves, Aquaria KLCC, Petronas Towers, Kuala Lumpur Tower, Bird Park, and the National Palace. The only minor downside of the entire experience was the intense humidity! As always, taking my camera and audio/video gear with me was an absolute must. I captured plenty of video footage and photos throughout the journey, which I compiled into a short video project: “Malaysia In Less Than 5 Minutes.” While it’s impossible to showcase everything in five minutes, this clip offers a wonderful introduction to Malaysia and Kuala Lumpur for anyone who hasn’t visited yet. For video editors out there: this short project was edited, color-corrected, and graded entirely using Final Cut Pro X (10.1). The background track features traditional Malaysian music purchased in a Kuala Lumpur market by the famous singer Dato’ Siti Nurhaliza, featuring the song title “Balqis”. UAE Inspirational Glance From The Past Sometimes flipping through and previewing old photos of mine provides creative ideas. The “UAE Inspirational Glance From The Past” poster was photographed by me around four years ago at Dubai Creek. Of course, you might wonder where in Dubai Creek you can find mountains alongside heritage buildings and the desert all in one place… But you shouldn’t bother asking—the entire composition was digitally manipulated. Color tones were adjusted, subjects replaced, and the scene reimagined to create an inspirational view presenting the genuine history and heritage of the Vernacular architecture of the United Arab Emirates, showing that the UAE is not only defined by modern urban skyscrapers. The poster is meant to capture an early morning mood with atmospheric fog under a dark sky, whereas the original photograph featuring the traditional ship was actually taken just before sunset. The United Arab Emirates consists of a diverse, multicultural society deeply rooted in Islamic, Arab, and Bedouin traditions. The traditional architecture developed throughout UAE history is known as Vernacular architecture, reflecting the environmental, cultural, and historical context of the region through simple yet functional design. I aimed to capture this architectural spirit in this photo-manipulation poster to convey a timeless glance into Emirati heritage. It is obvious that this poster resembles a digital painting more than a standard photograph—and that was precisely my intention. Seymour Jalal – Poster Design and Performance for The Voice Who among us hasn’t watched and followed The Voice on MBC? This program has attracted hundreds of millions of viewers due to its clever concept and beloved judges. Dozens of talented singers from across the Arab world participated, including the Iraqi contestant, Seymour Jalal. Seymour Jalal, who reached the finals of The Voice, didn’t need the same extensive advertising as his colleagues to garner votes. His distinctive voice and captivating performance, undeniably beautiful, charmed millions of fans of authentic Arabic music. This, in turn, propelled the young artist to the final round, and in my opinion, he deserved to win the title, but luck wasn’t on his side. Out of admiration and belief in the potential of this young artist, whose talent is immense, I designed a poster for him, placing him among the great, classic singers of authentic Arabic music. The poster depicts Seymour on the cover of an old gramophone record produced by Jaqmaqji Records, the most distinguished Iraqi brand in the 1940s, 50s, and 70s, producing records for renowned singers such as Nazem Al-Ghazali, Lamia Tawfiq, Salima Murad, and many other Arab singers. And the world at that time. In design, Seymour belongs to that bygone era, adding a significant Iraqi voice to the current Arab music scene. Demon Transformation
The Demon Transformation VFX A demon may be presented in unlimited ways, especially when it comes to the film industry. There are many famous demon movies out there and many of them are unique, but they all share the same goal: to be creepy. I was thinking about the last time I created the Hulky Transformation effect on my friend Muhannad, which turned out great. Starting from that concept, I got the idea to create another transformation on the exact same piece of footage—this time presenting a demon transformation. The most important element of creating the demon effect is making it look realistic and creepy. The main challenge I faced was that the original footage was shot during the daytime, whereas a creepy atmosphere typically requires night-time lighting… but I did my best to achieve that mood in post-production. BIFF jury praises the INSO Documentary
INSO Documentary Feature at Baghdad International Film Festival When the Iraqi National Symphony Orchestra Features documentary participated in the Baghdad International Film Festival last year in its 5th edition, it received wonderful feedback from the audience who attended the screening. An Unforgettable Moment Also, some of the pioneer Iraqi filmmakers along with other reporters have shown great interest in the film’s rich information, presenting the history of Iraq since the early 1940s from the perspective of the Symphony Orchestra. Dr. Ammar AlAwadi (BIFF co-founder with Taher Alwan) praised the INSO documentary film and shared his thoughts regarding its rich historical content: “Your film is so valuable… and worth making a seminar to discuss it.” His valued words serve as another award for the film. The Maestro of the Iraqi National Symphony Orchestra, Mr. Abdul Razzak Al-Azawi, was present at the screening and added his positive feedback for the film in which he participated. Media networks were also eager to conduct TV interviews regarding our participation in the BIFF 5th Edition (2013) and the story behind the INSO Documentary film. Shiekh Zayed Grand Mosque
Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Project Who doesn’t know or heard of Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque!! The big edifice located in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates. The Grand Mosque is considered to be the key place of worship in the UAE, accommodating over 40,000 worshippers during Friday or Eid prayers. It features the largest hand-knotted carpet in the world and stands as one of the world’s largest mosques. Last year, I had the chance to visit the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque with my family and relatives. It was a wonderful journey, during which I took numerous photographs and filmed the footage used in this video project. Constructed over a period of 10 years (from 1996 to 2007), the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque was crafted using materials sourced from various countries worldwide, including Morocco, Germany, Pakistan, Italy, India, Turkey, Iran, China, the United Kingdom, Malaysia, New Zealand, Greece, and the United Arab Emirates. Its central dome is also recognized as the largest mosque dome in the world. A wide variety of natural and precious materials were incorporated into its architecture, including gold, marble, semi-precious stones, fine ceramics, and crystals. The Grand Mosque is open to visitors, and I highly recommend visiting to experience its breathtaking architectural beauty firsthand. Now, getting back to our video: the soundtrack features a piece titled Light Year composed by Terry Devine, paired with added vocal prayer calls—which I performed myself! The HULKY Transform Effect You don’t see the Hulky transform effect on people every day.. better to check this out. Yesterday I and my friend Mohannad went for outdoors shooting I took, as usual, my equipment and start walking the streets nearby my home, then suddenly found this guy who has transferred into Hulky man but within seconds he came back normal, actually, this guy was Mohannad. I was arranging to make some outdoor shootings here and there to make other cool videos and one of my footage I got from there was the one I used in this video. At that time when I planned to make this video I did not have any ideas in mind of what to add into this footage I simply just shot it and then in post-production I was wondering what to make then I decided to make this Hulky transform effects just like when Mohannad was staring in the street and waiting for someone then an external phenomenon happened suddenly to him that transfer him into Hulk man for a couple of seconds and then retrieved back normal.. There are many ideas I have for Hulky Transform effect but wanted to make it in a funny way and realistic at the same time, I would have thought of making a different effect with this footage but saved some ideas into my next videos in the future with different footage. Bad Weather Aircraft Landing VFX The Bad weather aircraft landing video sample is where people say special effects, the aircraft was real and then used to develop the new look scene with the special effects. One day I was driving my car on Dubai streets and hence my way going back home passes nearby the Dubai airport terminal 3, I was watching everyday the huge aircraft with landing gears on landing slowly to the airport so I said to myself why don’t I take some shots for an aircraft while landing and then play with it in post-production !! so I pulled off my car aside after a couple of days and grabbed my DSLR camera and standing in a sideways near the Emirates road and after a couple of shooting trials I got this fantastic scene of Airbus aircraft landing. The shooting was in the middle of last summer but the result was amazing and realistic after my special effects touch.. The bad weather aircraft landing video sample makes it clear that it is possible to make almost everything in terms of special effects which is so helpful to make certain scenes in a movie or advertisement look more realistic and professional. The work behind this scene took almost two weeks of working as working with one layer film and isolating parts of it is a very time and effort consuming, it is not similar when someone uses 3D objects and play with its background. في هذا المقطع يبين حقيقة ان الكثير من مقاطع او لقطات الافلام العالمية تتم باستخدام المونتاج والتعديل والمؤثرات الخاصة بعد عملية التصوير.. في احد الايام وانا اقود سيارتي في شوارع دبي كنت انظر الى الطائرات المدنية التي تهبط في مطار دبي الثالث وخصوصا عندما كان طريق رجعتي اليومي بالشارع القريب من هذا المطار قررت ان استفيد من تصوير بعض اللقطات الجميله لطائرات مدنية عملاقه تهبط هناك فاخذت كامرتي في احد الايام وقمت بركن سيارتي على جانب الطريق وترجلت منها وقمت بتصوير بعض المحاولات لطائرات مختلفة وقررت ان استخدم هذا المشهد تحديدا لتطبيق بعض الحيل السينمائيه. التصوير كان في احد ايام الصيف الماضي ولكن النتيجة بعد التعديلات ولمساتي السحرية بدأت كأنها حقيقية وواقعيه. هذا المشهد التصويري يبين لك بان ليس هناك مستحيل في عالم السينما وايضا كيف ان اغلب الافلام العالمية تتم معالجتها او معالجة بعض لقطاتها بعد التصوير وهذا مايسمى بالبوست برودكشن لعمل لقطات اكثر واقعيه حسب الرغبه وحسب الفيلم. العمل في هذا المشهد استغرق قرابة الاسبوعين كون ان العمل على طبقه واحدة لملف فيديو هو اصعب من استخدام جسم مصنوع ببرامج ثلاثية الابعاد والتلاعب بخلفية المشهد.
